Clinical Tips from WHO

There is currently no vaccine against COVID-19. To protect yourself, staff and patients against infection, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends:

  • Washing your hands regularly with an alcohol-based sanitizer
  • Maintaining distance of at least 1 meter (3 feet) between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Seeking medical care immediately if you are showing symptoms

CDC Interim Prevention Recommendations for Healthcare Professionals

The CDC recommends that all healthcare professionals follow their interim infection prevention recommendations for patients with suspected or confirmed coronavirus disease.

Clinical Tips from the AAD

The AAD follows recommendations from the WHO and CDC. In addition, they recommend that common areas should be sanitized between patients and at the end of each day including:

  • exam room tabletops, countertops, exam beds, exam tables, doorknobs, exam light buttons and handles, chairs and faucet handles;
  • all bathroom surfaces including urine sample pass-through areas and toilets;
  • all countertop surfaces and chairs in the reception area;
  • all surfaces and chairs in the office;
  • and all surfaces and countertops in the lab.
